HII - MDIS is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to work Wright Patterson AFB (with remote work possible).
The need for a program office to manage the integration and support of the Virtual Test and Training Center (VTTC) operations, and execute the VTTC Concept of Operations (CONOPS) has become more evident as the VTTC standup gains more momentum to meet the training capability for the United States Air Force (USAF) Weapons Instructor Course (WIC) to train up to Top Secret (TS)/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)/Special Access Required (SAR) classification level. AFLCMC/WNS has been tasked to take appropriate actions necessary to meet a long-term strategic goal of becoming the single program office with respect to integration and sustainment of the VTTC.
Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):
Perform broad defense acquisition system life-cycle studies and analysis in support of the Agile Combat Support (ACS) Directorate that supports integration and sustainment of the VTTC.
Provide independent analysis of the state of the existing VTTC effort.
Provide independent analysis of studies conducted by other agencies and integrate the results in various acquisition and sustainment strategies.
Provide broad analysis and life-cycle studies that support program integration and sustainment, including analysis of the existing program state, and independent analysis of studies conducted by other agencies.
Work in partnership with the program team to draft an acquisition strategy roadmap that includes the development and delivery of a detailed Plan or Action and Milestones (POA&M).
Assist in drafting acquisition decision documentation that address operational capability needs, technology transition opportunities, acquisition strategy, and courses of action.
Support the initiation of appropriate contractual and programmatic actions to manage a battlespace integration capability that meets the needs of an advanced tactics and training environment.
Provide Market Research assessments, industry analysis including research trends in order to inform the government team, the acquisition strategies, and support development of briefing material with supporting analytics for senior leadership.
Review, analyze and deliver assessment reports of studies conducted by other agencies.
Conduct studies and analysis of program in early phases of develop, providing findings to assist and guide program team to make sound acquisition decisions.
Liaison with external organizations/programs to ensure inclusion of program into acquisition strategy planning products.
Provide product team with development and delivery of documentation deemed required.
Monitor and manage related subcontractor activities as needed.
Moderate amount of travel may be involved.
Qualifications and Experience:
A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or relevant field plus 5 years of functional experience, OR an associate's degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience.
Minimum three (3) years’ experience working with virtual combat training systems.
Knowledge of flight simulator environment.
Understanding of issues related to complex networked systems relevant to the training and simulation community.
USAF systems acquisition experience
Knowledge of simulator interoperability concepts and implementations, and specifically the Air Force Distributed Mission Operations program.
Experience in applying information systems security principles, concepts, and methods for operational Air Force or DoD information systems.
All candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII requirements.
Must possess and maintain an active Secret level clearance.
