HII – Mission Driven Innovative Solutions Inc. (HII-MDIS) provides mission-critical engineering and technical service to Information Technology, Federal Civilian, and National Security, Aerospace & Defense and International government and commercial customers at over 100 locations worldwide.
HII – MDIS is currently seeking a Technical Writer to work out of their Washington, DC office. Ideal candidates are those who are enthusiastic about technical documentation and software quality assurance. The candidate will provide the USPS Mail Entry and Payment Technology (MEPT) group with various forms of technical writing and documentation. Candidate should possess excellent writing and organization skills, along with expert-level experience in Microsoft Word. The ability to understand technical concepts and convey them using business-oriented language is a must. Candidates who can also demonstrate experience with the following are preferred: VersionOne Agile backlog management tool, version control software, task-tracking tools, and mailing industry data exchange standards.
Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):
The Technical Writer must be able to perform the following tasks in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
Update and/or create release notes oriented to end users in several different audiences, based on software tracking records, analysis, and research.
Follow an established template to create and/or edit release notes and other documentation.
Review documents produced by others using guidelines for standards and style.
Update process documentation on request, following established templates.
Create and/or support unscheduled documentation as needed.
Qualifications and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) and 3+ years’ experience in related writing field
Expertise with Microsoft Word
Excellent writing and communication skillset
User support skills
Experience with Agile software development environment
Familiarity with commonly-used Agile backlog management tools and/or task-tracking tools
Familiarity with version management concepts and tools
Proficiency with other Microsoft Office tools
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
Must be able to obtain and keep a USPS Sensitive Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen, have a Green Card or EAD and have been living in the U.S. for at least the last five years
