Huntington Ingalls Industries - Technical Solutions Division, Integrated Mission Solutions Group (Camber Corporation) provides mission-critical engineering and technical service to Information Technology, Federal Civilian, and National Security, Aerospace & Defense and International government and commercial customers at over 100 locations worldwide.

HII-TSD, Integrated Mission Solutions Group (Camber Corporation) is currently seeking a Technical Writer to work out of their San Antonio, TX office.

We are sourcing a candidate to write technical enterprise IT documentation. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, with the ability to work closely with our client to obtain technical content, document/organize the content in a concise/articulate manner, and ask questions to ensure the documentation is comprehensive. Experience creating diagrams within documentation is also required (Visio, or similar tool), to illustrate our client’s infrastructure and processes. Communication skills are critical – verbal and written. The selected candidate will often times elicit documentation content via telephone and video conference (Cisco Jabber). Once documentation is created, it will be posted on the web and electronically for staff view. The ability to build a knowledge database and logically organize documentation is necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):

  • Create, update and edit technical materials.

  • Review and edit highly complex written and graphic technical materials, including system configuration, documentation, studies, reports and other presentation graphics.

  • Provides technical and administrative direction for task, including review of work products for correctness, compliance with industry accepted standards and user standards specified in the task order.

  • Write clear and concise policies and procedures regarding security operations and national projects in line with requirements subtask 1.2: Information Security Plan and Policy Development and subtask 3.4: Business Continuity plan/Disaster Recovery Plan/Incident Response Plan Testing.

  • Explain scientific and technical ideas in simple language.

  • Have discussion with staff, study drawings, specifications and processes to formally document daily security operations and maintenance procedures.

  • Create user documentation for variety materials, including how-to-guides and instruction manuals.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree

Required –

  • Five (5) years of experience in technical writing/documentation support and the ability to translate standard requirements into policy and procedures that are aligned with organizational missions.

  • Three (3) years of experience standardizing documentation for online publishing and electronic dissemination. Experience shall include previous work developing an organizational documentation framework which includes but is not limited to standards for writing style, formatting, and document templates.

  • Most recent functional project experience must have occurred in the last within the last three (3) years.

Preferred –

  • Two (2) years of experience in writing organizational policies, procedures, and manuals that address the National Institute of Standards (NIST) IT Security standards OR Information Technology Infrastructure Library version 3 (ITIL) and other industry standards.

  • Three (3) years of this functional experience shall include authoring and editing technical documentation for the information technology field and proficiency in the Word Perfect, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Products such as Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
