HII - MDIS is currently seeking a Sr. Modeling & Simulation Analyst to work out of their Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Oahu, HI office.

Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following) :

  • Provide expert technical support to HQ PACAF/A3YS to design and architect Modeling & Simulation (M&S) to support Air Operations Center (AOC) exercises and training events at the operational level of war.

  • Identify operational and technical experts to provide M&S to the AOC as a virtual, just-in-time capability.

  • Perform specific tasks required to plan and execute an exercise. For example, write an exercise control plan, develop operational and technical manpower augmentation requirements.

  • Develop operational test plans for pre-exercise events.

  • Coordinate directly with various functional representatives of the training audience.

  • Develop plans, schedules, and training materials for M&S augmentee training, and assure the integration of operational considerations, technical considerations and exercise control functions to achieve training audience objectives.

  • During exercises, assume a primary position of responsibility as an exercise controller, simulation center manager, AirSim senior controller and troubleshooter.

  • Consolidate modeling and simulation deficiencies from previous exercises and work with the Air Force and Joint modeling and simulation communities to correct these deficiencies.

  • Participate in Air Force and Joint Model design reviews, cross model design, testing and acceptance events both in-person and in teleconferences with developer and testing agencies.

  • Provide the expertise to support an effective training program between exercises to maintain wartime readiness. The training events require extensive face-to-face planning with government staff to understand specific training requirements, translate those requirements into M&S requirements, develop a training plan, and implement the plan to provide quality training.

  • Create the Air Warfare simulation database that interfaces with the 613th AOC Command and Control systems.

  • Meet face-to-face with Theater Battle Management – Core Systems (TBMCS) operators to synchronize the Air Warfare simulation database with the TBMCS database and obtain user accounts to access TBMCS functions for updating missions.

  • Meet face-to-face with the 613th AOC Joint Interface Control Cell (JICC) to set up M&S feeds to display simulation data in the Common Operational Picture (COP).

  • Meet with the 613th AOC Combat Plans division and provide feedback from the Air Warfare simulation during training events to correct errors to the Air Tasking Order (ATO) during training events.

  • Meet with the 613 AOC Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance division (IRD) to provide feedback on ISR asset utilization and intelligence exploitation during training events.

Qualifications and Experience :

Required –

  • More than 15 years’ experience in Command and Control M&S

  • In-depth knowledge of AOC procedures and operations, to plan complex simulation-driven exercise events and direct such activities undertaken by subordinates

  • Working knowledge of Air Tasking Order (ATO) preparation and execution; AOC display systems for COP and Common Tactical Picture (CTP); and battle damage assessment processes and systems

  • Knowledgeable of USAF operational doctrine, direct working knowledge of and experience with theater air operations, and the airborne and ground elements of the Theater Air Control System

  • Direct experience in planning and executing simulation driven exercises, ideally for Joint Forces Air Component Commander (JFACC)/AOC training

  • Knowledgeable of practical application of computer simulation for the support of exercises, the fundamental principles of simulation-driven exercise planning, and experience in the control of a simulation center during an exercise

  • Qualified to act as an AirSim senior controller during exercises

Preferred –

  • 20 years of military operational experience and 15 years of exercise simulation experience

Security :

  • All candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII requirements.

  • Currently possess a Secret clearance and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance, if necessary
