HII – Mission Driven Innovative Solutions Inc. (HII-MDIS) provides mission-critical engineering and technical service to Information Technology, Federal Civilian, and National Security, Aerospace & Defense and International government and commercial customers at over 100 locations worldwide.

HII – MDIS is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to work at the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) office in Orlando Florida.

The Systems Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that is developing concepts and architecture for an Operational Training Infrastructure (OTI) Ecosystem that applies cloud computing principles to modeling and simulations (M&S) that support Air Force training.

Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):

  • Support development of the OTI Ecosystem architecture and related technical details

  • Develop architecture artifacts including technical diagrams in Department of Defense Architecture Framework version 2.0 (DoDAF 2) format

  • Analyze architectures of existing simulations to identify characteristics relevant to migrating them to a cloud computing environment

  • Engage with Subject Matter Experts to identify, clarify, and codify requirements

  • Support development of OTI Reference Architecture documentation that describes the operational concept, internal data and resource flows, external information flows, and defining goals, principles, rules, and techniques to achieve the OTI Ecosystem vision

  • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to develop technical details and execute tasks that support definition and implementation of the OTI Ecosystem

Qualifications and Experience:

Required-

  • 5 or more years of experience analyzing, designing, or developing Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training systems

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, or other related field, e.g., information technology

  • Must be able travel 30% of the time

Preferred-

  • Experience analyzing, designing, or developing M&S and LVC training systems for US Air Force or other DoD organizations

  • Experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect toolset for making DoDAF diagrams

  • Familiarity with M&S data models, ontologies, and taxonomies

  • Familiarity with contemporary software development processes and tools such as Agile, DevOps, Kubernetes, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and/or cloud migration

  • Master’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, or other related field, e.g., information technology

  • Familiarity with contemporary system architectures for cloud computing.

  • Must possess and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
