HII - MDIS is currently seeking an Enterprise Solution Architect – Big Data to work out of their client's Merrifield, VA office.
The Enterprise Solution Architect for an enterprise big data and analytics platform will utilize emerging technology to ingest data in real-time at extreme volumes and high velocity. The successful candidate will be able to analyze business requirements and define technical solutions, build level-of-effort, and create implementation timelines in an extremely fast-paced Agile/rapid solution development lifecycle.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Work with product owners across several high priority and concurrent efforts; Analyze business requirements and define high-level technical solution, build level-of-effort estimates, and implementation timeline in an extremely fast-paced Agile/rapid solution development lifecycle.
Design for consistency, extensibility, and scalability. Verify software development on individual projects is in alignment with overall technical application architecture direction.
Serve as technical subject matter advisor across project work streams; Coach/mentor junior architects and senior developers during the development of the solution

Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree plus a minimum of 9 years of applicable experience.
10+ years of diverse architecture and development experience - data architecture, web architecture and integration architecture
5+ years of big data implementation experience with Cassandra, Hadoop or other similar NoSQL platforms, and open source technologies Spark and Kafka
5+ years of implementation experience with integrating big data platforms with custom and COTS BI/reporting platforms to produce highly responsive data visualizations
Database design and modeling - logical and physical
Ability to provide inputs to size infrastructure needs for new solutions (storage, memory, compute, memory)
Performance tuning - table partitioning and indexing, process threading
Agile development methodology
Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills
Effective communicator (both verbal & written)
- Bachelor’s Degree plus a minimum of 10 years of applicable experience.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
Must be able to obtain and keep a USPS Sensitive Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder and have been living in the U.S. for at least the last five years
Must not have traveled outside of the United States for more than 180 days in the last five years
