HII-Mission Driven Innovative Solutions Inc.(HII-MDIS) provides mission-critical engineering and technical service to Information Technology, Federal Civilian, and National Security, Aerospace & Defense and International government and commercial customers at over 100 locations worldwide.

HII-MDIS is currently seeking a Senior Communications Officer to work out of the customer location in Herndon, VA.

Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):

  • The Communications Officer works across the internal organization with external business partners to create communications packages. These projects may be large or small and may communication high level corporate strategies or intimate details of the business.

  • The Communications Officer must be able to manage large and small projects and deliver communication on time and sometime with very short deadlines. As such s/he must be able to developing multiple communication vehicles, including but not limited to: newsletters, presentations, talking points, digital content, letters, brochures, training materials, and video scripts

  • The Communications Officer must demonstrate strong writing and editing skills. The Communications officer will be called upon to write and/or proofread communication distributed by other team members.

  • The Communications Officer must understand, and is fluent, in the use of communications software applications

  • The Communications Officer should have the ability to multitask and set priorities, manage time effectively, and demonstrate strong teamwork skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required –

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent professional experience

  • Must have a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of communications experience, preferably at least two (2) years writing and producing internal communications content

  • Must demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills to develop and generate content for meetings, briefings, documents, blogs and/or websites

  • Must possess superior interpersonal skills and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Must have demonstrated significant experience utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Must have an ability to adapt to different, disparate communications styles

Preferred –

  • Experience in the Intelligence Community

  • Experience with multiple IC organizations

  • Master’s degree


  • All candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and drug screening per HII requirements.

  • The position requires a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
