Huntington Ingalls Industries Senior AWS Systems Engineer in Hahahan, South Carolina

Overview

Currently, Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) provides expert solutions in Advanced Technology, Research and Development Services, Cyber Security, Intelligence Analysis and Operations, Healthcare, and Mission Systems to a variety of customers across the Federal Civilian, Intelligence, Department of Defense, and Healthcare sectors.

HII is soliciting senior-level network engineer candidates with a healthcare IT engineering background to work with our team providing worldwide enterprise Health Information Technology engineering support in: system engineering; enterprise infrastructure; network security; network operations; systems integration; infrastructure and network migration services for customers within the military Medical Community of Interest (MEDCOI).

Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and deploy systems and services on AWS and other remote servers

  • Design and deploy the infrastructure and services for new applications

  • Lead initiatives for upgrading and scaling our systems to improve security, availability, reliability, and performance

  • Build, install, tune, and troubleshoot operating system services for optimum performance levels

  • Keep up with maintenance requirements, avoiding unplanned outages

  • Work closely with development team by rapidly deploying instances, monitoring operating efficiencies of the platform, and responding as needs arise

  • Recommend and implement alternative solutions as neededCollaborate with technical leads to integrate an end-to-end design that's well documented

  • Evaluate, implement, and integrate new technologies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field preferred

  • Security+ (or higher) required

  • CompTIA networking certifications preferred

  • OS Level certification preferred

  • Professional or Specialty AWS Certifications are considered a plus for this position

  • 5+ years’ experience in managing sophisticated computer networks

  • 3+ years’ experience in network architecture and deployment

  • Knowledge of printers, networked print queues, and basic maintenance

  • Knowledge of network-attached storage systems

  • Knowledge of rules and procedures for handling government classified and proprietary information.

  • Knowledge of Mac OSX

  • Knowledge of UNIX and Linux systems

  • Excellent communication skills required

  • Ability to work equally as effective independently or in a team environment
