HII – Mission Driven Innovative Solutions Inc. (HII-MDIS) provides mission-critical engineering and technical service to Information Technology, Federal Civilian, and National Security, Aerospace & Defense and International government and commercial customers at over 100 locations worldwide.
HII - MDIS is currently seeking a UI/UX Developer to work in Fairfax, VA or Washington DC.
Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):
The position is a part of the USPS PostalOne! Application development team, which is responsible for developing and maintaining applications to support the business functions of the organization.
The ideal candidate will have a creative, organized approach to tackling problems and creating web, tablet and mobile-friendly solutions. Those in the role will work closely with various members of this organization to play a key role in the successful launch of web features and application.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
requirements gathering, design, development, testing and documentation;
be responsible for Front End Developer responsibilities;
develop end-to-end designs for the web interfaces, reporting and analysis components of projects;
develop web portals, single page applications and other user interface components to facilitate the user interface to Business data resources;
ability to interpret user stories and create prototypes, implement application and feature designs using sketches.
maintain quality and consistency of markup standards and CSS assets;
collaborate with Product Owners and internal team members (such as functional leads, developers) for review and feedback;
participate in project work groups with Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders to understand data specific needs;
provide production deployment and production support as needed;
maintain updated knowledge of the development industry and any advancements in technology;
Candidate will be responsible for analyzing and converting business requirements to technical requirements, followed by designing and implementing the solutions.
Candidate will work with the Product Owners and functional leads to understand requirements and then create mockups and prototypes.
Candidate will be involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle and demonstrate abilities to learn both the business processes, as well as, new and existing technologies.
Candidate will work closely with software engineers and other project team members to successfully test and assess ongoing development within demanding schedules, as well as, produce test cases and other Postal project documentation.
Candidate will work in an Agile team environment, and must be able to produce with minimal supervision.
Qualifications and Experience :
Degree from an accredited college or university in a technical field (engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related field of study) plus at least 5 years of professional service, or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Experience with React.js or Angular.js, Node.js and common tools Webpack, Parcel, MobX, Express.js.
Experience with Redux, JSX.
Experience with UI REST API frameworks (Axios) and JSON.
Oracle/Relational database experience to include knowledge of queries and SQL.
Strong programming/development and coding skills
Excellent analytic and design skills
Detail oriented with strong problem solving skills
Strong communication skills (both verbal & written)
Experience with Java, JEE/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot
- RESTful Web Services (RESTful), Hibernate and SOA.
Experience with Agile Software Development technologies like Scrum, SAFe
Experience with Open-Source Cloud-based technologies
A thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Knowledge of US Postal Service system is a plus
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
Must be able to obtain and keep a USPS Sensitive Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder and have been living in the U.S. for at least the last five years
Must not have traveled outside of the United States for more than 180 days in the last five years
