HII – Mission Driven Innovative Solutions Inc. (HII-MDIS) provides mission-critical engineering and technical service to Information Technology, Federal Civilian, and National Security, Aerospace & Defense and International government and commercial customers at over 100 locations worldwide.

HII - MDIS is currently seeking a Junior Production/Industrial Engineer to work at the Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD), in Corpus Christi, Texas. This position is for a short-term project through early 2020, with the potential for a longer-term position.

Duties and Responsibilities (may include but not be limited to the following):

  • Support government engineers with expert advice, analysis, research, and technical guidance.

  • Develop technical concepts, plans for implementation, monitors technical progress, designs tests, assesses performance data, and develops solutions to technical problems.

  • Author, edit, contributes to the production of technical reports and other technical products, such as overall project concepts and descriptions, test plans, and technical reports.

  • Maintain knowledge of relevant scientific principles, application methods/procedures, and integration of same into engineering projects using systems, materials, electrical, mechanical or aerospace engineering practices.

  • Provide professional and scientific engineering services related to the Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO) and modification of a variety of U.S. Army and cross-service (Navy, Air Force, etc.) rotary wing aircraft airframes, structures, engines, components, and related flight systems.

  • Recommend corrective actions related to mishaps, failures, performance problems, or other malfunctions. The engineer will liaise between production and engineering groups to oversee equipment modernization efforts and lead aviation MRO process improvements and simplification projects.

  • Initiate studies, analyze workload, flow, material handling, equipment and facility utilization to plan, design, and integrate alternatives to production processes, procedures, capacity, capability and policies.

  • Assess situations and identify opportunities for gains in productivity, quality, and safety; while minimizing costs, hazardous waste and environmental liability.

  • Employ CAD drafting techniques (AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT) to design improved or new functional layouts and unique equipment solutions.

  • Draft technical instruction, criteria, and documentation; and coordinates with production groups to develop or revise operating procedures.

  • Coordinate with external subject matter experts, and assists with market research, justification, and development of written specifications for the acquisition and implementation of advanced technologies.

  • Conduct frequent shop visits and outdoor travel between various locations within the industrial complex.

  • Properly use personal protective equipment (steel-toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, and other PPE as needed).

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Bachelor of Science degree.

  • Experienced at planning, coordinating and leading engineering projects.

  • Experienced in evaluating work for adherence to government policies, plans, procedures, and management requirements.

  • Experienced in the application of analytical skills to support and evaluate engineering dispositions.

  • Knowledge and experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, depot repair manuals, and technical data for repair development and design.

  • Experience in working independently; ability to understand, anticipate, and act on the requirements of senior leaders.

  • Ability to work independently; ability to understand, anticipate, and act on the requirements of senior leaders.

  • Ability to manage diverse workloads of complex and priority projects without supervision.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Possess strong listening, written and oral communication skills.

  • Competence in MS Office and related software/programs.

Preferred –

  • Bachelor/Masters of Science degree in Industrial, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or Materials engineering from an ABET accredited institution.

  • Active DoD Security Clearance.


  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
