HII Mission Driven Innovative Solutions (MDIS) is a business group within Technical Solutions; a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) that delivers professional services to a wide variety of government and commercial customers worldwide. HII MDIS has over 2100 employees worldwide who deliver critical services to our DoD, IC and Federal/Civilian customers across five service portfolios: IT and Software Applications; Modeling, Simulation and Training; Mission Engineering and Operations Support; Cyberspace Operations; and Logistics and Lifecycle Management.
HII MDIS is currently seeking a Senior Director and Business Unit Manager to support the Defense and National Intelligence Business Unit (Fulcrum IT Services, LLC) and work out of either the Centreville, VA; Fairfax, VA; or Tampa, FL office.
The Defense and National Intelligence (DNI) Business Unit (BU) is one of four MDIS BUs and is currently part of Fulcrum IT Services, an HII company and a wholly owned subsidiary of MDIS. The BU has over 500 personnel in various locations including Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Hawaii, and overseas locations in Europe, the Pacific, and South Korea. The BU primarily services US Special Operations Forces (SOF), the military intelligence community (IC), and conventional DOD operating forces.
The Sr. Director, DNI BU, is accountable for operational and program performance, business growth, financial performance, customer relationships, people leadership and the cultural health of the BU. Key responsibilities include:
Manages and develops the portfolio and senior managers of business segments to include capture managers within the BU.
Is empowered to make decisions involving BU operations and operating budget, and is accountable for results that significantly impact profitability and the AOP (program performance, financial performance, growth, workforce and other key group or division initiatives).
Determines BU organizational objectives and assignments in accordance with group, division, and company-wide strategies and policies.
Responsible for the successful operation of activities that have significant consequence to the BU. Accountable for ensuring that overall budgets, schedules, performance standards and staffing requirements are realistically set and attained.
Partners with peer business units and functional leadership within MDIS and the other groups and staff of the Technical Solutions Division to maximize the delivery of enterprise capabilities and performance overall.
Represents the BU as an executive internal and external contact on contracts or operations; has regular interaction with high-level customer leadership and engages visibly with BU programs and personnel.
Conducts periodic PMRs and financial variance reviews and takes actions to resolve problems before they become significant issues.
Develops a realistic AOP, monthly/quarterly forecast updates, and manages indirect budgets in close coordination with the BU Business (financial) Manager and assigned project control personnel.
Oversees the BU pipeline and successful development and implementation of capture and proposal plans under the auspices of the BU, and otherwise supports similar efforts led by the MDIS group as required.
Personally models HII values of integrity, safety, honesty, engagement, responsibility and performance; ensures the BU operates in alignment with these values.
Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
Minimum of 5 years’ P&L leadership experience with recent experience managing a business with annual sales of $100M or greater. Highly relevant executive/senior military or government experience with the requisite years of P&L experience may be considered.
Direct experience with SOF or the IC.
A proven track record of managing a portfolio of separate programs and contracts that are geographically distributed.
Leadership experience as a government contractor in the professional/technical services domain with a focus on one or more of the areas as follows: intelligence analysis, ISR collection/dissemination, military operations and planning support, military training support, global military logistics, and military aviation support services.
Experience directing, overseeing, or leading business development processes and practices to drive growth through existing and new business opportunities within the public sector.
Demonstrated experience in building a strong leadership team, building succession and talent pipelines.
Organizational Leadership - strong communications, interpersonal skills, and a winning attitude is required.

- An advanced degree or MBA
Must have a Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 15 years of applicable, progressive professional and supervisory work experience.
Must have active TS/SCI clearance
