HII - MDIS is currently seeking a Senior Director to lead their new cyber security and defense business unit, mostly comprised of the newly acquired G2, Inc. organization, and be based out of the Annapolis Junction, MD office.
HII Mission Driven Innovative Solutions (MDIS) is a business group within the Technical Solutions Division; a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) that delivers professional services to a wide variety of government and commercial customers worldwide. HII MDIS has over 1650 employees and executes a number of successful, innovative, and mission–driven contracts throughout the DoD, the IC, and other Federal and State agencies. The group has four business units – Training, Cyber & Engineering; Data and Mission IT; and Protection & Intelligence, and now a cybersecurity and defense business unit, mostly comprised of a recent acquisition of G2, Inc. G2, Inc. is a nationally recognized cybersecurity solutions and services company. HII-MDIS specializes in delivering professional services across five portfolios: Enterprise IT; Military Preparedness and Logistics; Intelligence Analysis and Operations; Acquisition, Operations and Engineering; and Training and Simulation. The business group is accredited in national and international standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 20000, and CMMI ML-3, and uses these standards to ensure services and products are consistent and of the highest quality.
Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):
The Sr. Director and Business Unit Manager is accountable for operational and program performance, business growth, financial performance, customer relationships, cultural health of the BU including sustaining a highly engaged workforce.
Other key responsibilities include:
Manages and develops the senior managers and directors of business segments to include capture managers as assigned within the BU.
Is empowered to make decisions involving BU operations and operating budget, and is accountable for results that significantly impact profitability and the AOP (program performance, financial performance, growth, workforce and other key group or division initiatives).
Determines BU organizational objectives and assignments in accordance with group, division, and company-wide strategies and policies.
Responsible for the successful operation of activities that have significant consequence to the BU. Accountable for ensuring that overall budgets, schedules, performance standards and staffing requirements are realistically set and attained.
Partners with peer business and functional leadership within MDIS and the other groups and staff of the Technical Solutions Division to maximize the delivery of enterprise capabilities and performance overall.
Represents the BU as a prime internal and external contact on contracts or operations; has regular interaction with high-level customer leadership and engages visibly with BU programs and personnel.
Conducts periodic PMRs and financial variance reviews and takes actions to resolve problems before they become significant issues.
Develops a realistic AOP, monthly/quarterly forecast updates, and manages indirect budgets in close coordination with the BU Business (financial) Operations Manager and assigned project control personnel.
Oversees the BU pipeline and successful development and implementation of capture and proposal plans under the auspices of the BU, and otherwise supports similar efforts led by the group as required. Primary responsibility for ensuring the win on recompetes of existing BU contracts.

Qualifications and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of 12 years of applicable, progressive professional and supervisory work experience. Advanced degree, MBA, and technical undergraduate degree preferred.
Previous P&L management experience greater than or equal to $60M with FFP program experience
A proven track record in a comparable leadership role of like scope and complexity (>$60M business portfolio, distributed programs, geographies and personnel).
Management and/or BD experience within a government contractor in the professional/technical services domain with a focus on: cyber operations and/or cybersecurity, and software intensive programs
Experience leading business development processes and practices to drive growth through existing Federal departments’ agencies.
Demonstrated experience in building a strong leadership team, building succession and talent pipelines.
Organizational Leadership - strong communications, interpersonal skills, and a winning attitude is required.
